Jaguar XJ

Sleek new range topper will be most radical Jaguar yet

It might look like a four-door tank, but underneath the heavycamouflage is Jaguar’s all-new XJ – and it's going to be the most head-turning yet!

That's because design boss Ian Callum has revealed that, thanks to lower-selling volumes than the XF, the company can be even more daring with flagship saloon. So expect it to mimick the Mercedes CLS bytaking the shape of a four-door coupe but with trademark Jaguar designelements such as a bold nose with a prominent grille and LED headlights.

Under the skin lies a modified version of the existing XJ’s all-aluminium platform, whichwill also underpin the next-generation Range Rover, while power will come from Jaguar's latest engines, including a 3.0-litre twin-turbodiesel and a range topping 500bhp 5.0-litre V8.

The newcomer will break cover in the form of a thinly disguised concept later this year, with sales starting in early 2010.
