Citroen C3 spied

Heavily camouflaged supermini keeps curvy 2CV-inspired styling

Eight years after the currentmodel was launched – here’s the best look yet at the all-new Citroen C3, due tobe launched this summer.

Rumours suggest the new car willnot only take the place of the current C3 but also of the smaller C2, whichhasn’t proven to be a big success. Instead, the French carmaker willconcentrate on developing the C1 and C3 as well as the brand-new C3 Picasso –and will drop the C2 entirely.

Judging from the spy-pictures,the car will keep its 2CV-derived rounded styling, but with more modernheadlights, tail lamps and grille. Like today, the new Citroen C3 will beavailable as a five-door and three-door hatchback and could well be offered inthe X-TR semi-offroad trim, while a versatile Pluriel cabriolet model can’t beruled out either.

It also forms the underpinningsfor Citroen’s more upmarket MINI-battling model – the DS3 revealed last week inGeneva.

Under the bonnet we’ll seeanother range of petrol-engines with outputs between 60 and 110bhp, as well asselection of HDi diesel engines delivering between 70 and 110bhp.
