Until October 2007, all C-Classes had the Service Assist variable service indicator, with minor (approx. £235) or major (£345) maintenance being required every 12,000-15,000 miles, or up to two years. Later cars need attention every 15,500 miles or 12 months.

All engines are chain driven, so there are no cambelts to change, but the brake fluid needs renewing every two years (£55) and the coolant every 15 years (£85). The air-conditioning costs £110 to recharge.
