Best new Fords coming soon

The new, somewhat controversial Capri has been drawing lots of attention, but there are plenty of other reborn models coming soon from Ford

Ford may have axed the Mondeo in 2022, the Fiesta in 2023 and the Focus in 2025, but some new arrivals are due to join the Blue Oval’s European line-up very soon, including a comeback for one of those iconic nameplates.

Ford Bronco Sport

Neither the Ford Bronco nor its smaller, less off-road-focused sibling, the Bronco Sport, is sold in the UK, or anywhere in Europe for that matter. However, we recently learned that Ford is planning to build a new mid-size SUV that’s set to arrive in 2027 and will be inspired by the popular Bronco Sport. We know it will feature hybrid powertrains, and there could be an electric version, but that’s yet to be confirmed.

Ford Fiesta

Ford without the Fiesta is like having gin without tonic. It’s just weird. Thankfully, Britain’s beloved, best-selling supermini is set to return in 2028 after Ford struck a deal with Renault to use its electric-car platform, plus its battery and motor technology, for a pair of small EVs.

This means the new Fiesta will be electric only, but we’re sure a hot ST version would go some way to make up for that. Plus the AmpR Small EV architecture that Ford now has access to underpins the simply brilliant Renault 5, Alpine A290 and Nissan Micra

Speaking of the new Micra, while that is a lightly restyled and renosed version of the R5, the new Fiesta will be designed by Ford and have a unique body. It will also have unique chassis tuning in a bid to deliver the brand’s trademark engaging driving dynamics, but will be built in Renault's 'ElectriCity' facility in Northern France.

Ford Mustang GTD

Before you make the same comment everyone else does, no, this is not a diesel. The new Mustang GTD is Ford’s most extreme version of the new Mustang, packing a supercharged 5.2-litre V8 that’s expected to pump out over 800bhp, revs to 7,500rpm and sends all that firepower to the rear wheels only via an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and a limited-slip differential. The car even uses some technology banned from international motorsport, but all of that comes at a price: £315,000.
