Used BMW X3 (Mk2, 2010-2017) review - What do owners think?

The BMW X3 Mk2 has performed well in our Driver Power owner surveys, though hasn’t done as well in the reliability ratings

The BMW X3 Mk2 shows promise as an ownership prospect, as it made frequent appearances in our Driver Power owner satisfaction surveys during its time in production. Even towards the tail end of its lifecycle, the X3 Mk2 was able to post good results: in the 2016 edition of Driver Power, the BMW X3 Mk2 was rated 77th out of 150 cars. However, in that edition, X3 Mk2 owners didn’t rate the car as highly for reliability.

While BMW X3 Mk2 owners were generally satisfied with their car in the Driver Power survey from 2016 (which was the last one to feature the car when it was originally on sale), they weren’t as impressed with the car’s reliability record. In that survey, it was ranked 92nd out of the top 150 cars for durability.

As many of the parts on the BMW X3 Mk2 have been shared with many other BMW models, the main kinks in the armour should have been ironed out by now. That said, do bear in mind even the youngest examples on the road are far from being factory fresh nowadays, which will impact their reliability going forwards.
