Kia Cee’d GT hot hatch goes on sale in the UK

Kia has spiced-up its Cee’d range with the GT hot hatch now available in UK showrooms

A five-door version of the three-door Kia pro_cee’d GT hot hatch is called the Kia Cee’d GT and you can buy it now in UK showrooms.

The Kia Cee’d GT is more practical than the pro_cee’d version but it still boasts impressive performance figures. Its 1.6-litre turbocharged engine delivers 201bhp and 265Nm of torque, while the 0-60mph sprint takes just 7.4 seconds. The car will reach a top speed of 143mph.

It’s quite an economical engine, too. A six-speed manual gearbox helps it emit 171g/km of CO2, whilst returning 38.2mpg on the combined cycle.

The Kia Cee’d GT’s responsiveness is improved by a twin-scroll turbocharger that eliminates lag when accelerating. Retuned steering makes the car more direct and responsive, whilst the brakes are the most powerful in the Kia Cee’d range.

Kia Cee'd GT: design

It has striking looks to match these impressive performance figures, too. There’s a lower, stockier bumper and a wider central air intake supplies additional cooling to the engine. High-gloss black inserts house LED daytime running lights and a chrome front radiator grille that’s finished off by a GT badge.

The widened back has a rear diffuser separating the dual sports exhaust outlets. Red brake callipers also add contrast to the 18-inch graphite grey alloy wheels.

Inside, GT logos are stitched onto the front leather and suede Recaro sport seats. A three-dial dashboard has a multi-function LCD screen displaying both analogue and digital information. Hitting the steering wheel’s GT button brings up information about the car’s speed, torque, turbo boost pressure, engine coolant temperature and trip information.

The Kia Cee’d GT is available in either entry-level GT or GT Tech specifications. Standard equipment like air-conditioning, cruise control and automatic lights are fitted on both. Reversing sensors, Bluetooth phone connectivity, electric windows, heated mirrors and an LCD display is also available.

Extras are available on the Kia Cee’d GT Tech. This includes a seven-inch touch screen that controls sat-nav and a reversing camera. There’s also rain-sensing front wipers, automatic air conditioning, lights in the exterior door handles, heated front seats and heated steering wheel.

Prices for the Kia Cee’d GT start from £20,495, while the Kia Cee’d GT Tech costs from £22,995.
