Three car garage: A Lotus, a Bentley and a Range Rover Sport, or one new Range Rover?

A lightweight sports car, a luxurious continent-crosser and a luxury SUV to fill your driveway, all from the Auto Express used car classifieds

Three used cars for the price of a new Range Rover

The Range Rover is the definitive luxury SUV and the latest version is bigger, better and more advanced in every way. But unsurprisingly, it’s also more expensive than ever, with prices starting from over £104,000. So I decided to try and build an impressive three car garage from the Auto Express used car classifieds for the same money as one bog-standard new Range Rover. I made up my selection entirely of cars built in Britain, just like the Range Rover, as well.

Bentley Continental GT - £43,950

Bentley Continental GT

The Bentley Continental GT offers sophisticated style, stupendous speed and a pillowy ride, making it the perfect car for crossing counties, countries or entire continents if you have the time. This particular example we found had covered just over 26,000 miles, yet the gorgeous interior looks factory fresh and features quilted leather just about everywhere you look. Meanwhile its 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine produces 521bhp and 680Nm of torque that will let you get to 192 mph if you’re ever on an unrestricted German autobahn.

Lotus Exige V6 S - £39,999

Lotus Exige S front cornering

While the big Bentley offers everything you might want from a car in terms of creature comforts, the Lotus Exige strips it all back to the bare essentials to deliver the most thrilling driving experience it possibly can. The 345bhp supercharged 3.5-litre engine and a kerbweight of around one tonne makes for explosive acceleration - with 0-62mph dispensed in less than four seconds - and precise handling. And if you think modern cars are too fussy and complicated, this Exige V6 S has a good old fashioned six-speed manual gearbox, unassisted steering and barely any amenities to distract you from the road ahead.

If you’re not a fan of this Lotus Exige, then there are plenty of Jaguar F-Types available in the Auto Express classifieds instead...

Range Rover Sport - £19,800

Range Rover Sport SDV6 front cornering

It might not be the full-fat, flagship Range Rover, but the Range Rover Sport is still an incredibly impressive luxury SUV that’s comfortable yet dynamic, and capable off-road, like all Land Rover products should be. The beautifully finished cabin features Oxford leather, heated front seats and loads of space, including a 784-litre boot, giving you a luxurious yet family-friendly option to complete this three car garage.

If this Range Rover Sport is already sold, there are a huge range of other Land Rovers for sale right now through Auto Express, from the compact Range Rover Evoque to the mighty Land Rover Defender...
