Kia Cee'd

The new Cee’d is built on a new platform and is longer and lower than the original model. It’s more efficient, too, with Kia expecting the 126bhp 1.6-litre turbodiesel to be the volume seller. It delivers 97g/km of CO2 and 76.3mpg with its EcoDynamics technology. There’s a choice of a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic box, while a new dual-clutch transmission is available on the 133bhp 1.6-litre petrol model. Inside the big news is another leap forward in quality and style, while there’s more shoulder room, plus 40 litres of additional luggage space. This gives a total of 380 litres, expanding to 1,380 litres with the seats folded. Six airbags, ABS and ESP all come as standard.

Kia Cee'd SW

The new Kia Cee'd SW estate will go on sale three months after the new five-door Cee’d, with the same engine and gearbox options. That means three petrol and two diesel engines, with the cleanest emitting 97g/km of CO2. Fold the seats and the 528-litre boot expands to around 1,650 litres.

The Lamborghini Aventador J stole the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta’s thunder when it starred at the recent Geneva Motor Show. It takes the standard Aventador and removes the roof and windscreen before adding carbon fibre parts. The one-off uses the same 690bhp 6.5-litre V12, so it should do 0-62mph in 2.9 seconds on its way to 210mph, and it’s fully road legal. But don’t get your chequebook out yet – it’s already been sold for £1.75million plus VAT.

Land Rover DC100

This car previews the next Defender, due by 2015. With a longer wheelbase and a raft of technology, Land Rover says the DC100 builds on the Defender’s robustness with a layer of “everyday usability”. Expect diesel and V8 petrol power, plus multiple bodystyles like the current car.

Lexus LF-LC

The Lexus LF-LC drops big hints as to how an upcoming Jaguar XK rival will look. The rear-wheel-drive, 500bhp hybrid coupe is slightly longer and taller than the LFA supercar, with a full-length panoramic glass roof and a cabin that’s packed with the very latest technology.
