You don’t call a new model the iQ unless you’re pretty confident people are going to think it’s clever! Japanese giant Toyota put its full weight behind redefining the city car with its latest contender, and we were determined to give it a thorough test as soon as it arrived in the UK. As
it took on three separate challengers, it became clear that the iQ was a unique proposition, yet it struggled to make its mark in any one area.

In the end, the tiny four-seater stole victory from Smart’s ForTwo, but couldn’t come out on top in contests with the Fiat 500 and SEAT Ibiza.
