Just so you know, this is an older review of the 2016-2024 Audi A5 Coupe. If you are interested in information about the latest Audi A5, or news of upcoming Audi models, please follow the links provided.

The most efficient A5 is the 35 TDI diesel, which returns up to 58.9mpg and emits 125g/km of CO2, while the 40 TDI delivers 50.4mpg and from 147g/km. Audi claims the 40 TFSI petrol will manage 42.8mpg and 150g/km, while the 45 TFSI manages 36.7mpg and 166g/km.

A number of Audi A5s will be run as company cars; but Benefit-in-Kind will be fairly expensive given its CO2 emissions – the 45 TFSI sits in the highest 37 per cent bracket.

Insurance groups

The Audi A5’s insurance ratings start at group 27 (out of 50) for a 30 TDI in entry-level Sport trim, while the most expensive standard model is the S-Line fitted with the 45 TFSI petrol engine – this particular version resides in group 40. Opting for the high-performance RS 5 pushes insurance up to group 44.

By comparison, the BMW 4 Series ranges from group 30 for the 420i to group 40 for the M440i with 369bhp.

Depreciation

Our expert data shows that Audi A5 used values have fallen over the last six months. Previously holding onto an average of 46-52 per cent of its original value after three years and 36,000 miles, the A5 is now predicted to retain between 38 and 42 per cent over the same period, with entry-level cars performing the best.
