VW Tiguan Match

New Tiguan Match edition replaces Tiguan SE in the VW compact SUV line-up

VW Tiguan Match

The Volkswagen Tiguan Match has just been announced. It replaces the Tiguan SE in the firm’s compact SUV line-up, and, despite costing £450 less than the SE model, VW claims the Match offers £700-worth of extra equipment.

On the outside, there’s not much to distinguish the Tiguan Match, aside from a set of 17-inch ‘New Orleans’ alloys. However, on the inside, all Match models include an RNS 315 colour touchscreen sat-nav and a leather-trimmed multi-function steering wheel.

Bluetooth and an MDI media interface – for connecting your iPhone or a USB stick – is also included, while there’s also a CD/DVD player, SD card slot and DAB digital radio.

Two-zone climate control is standard, as are picnic tables, which fold up from the front seat backs. Front and rear parking sensors are included, as is Park Assist, which takes control of the steering wheel to either reverse or parallel-park the Tiguan into spaces 1.1-metres longer than the car.

The Tiguan Match is available with a choice of diesel and petrol engines and manual or DSG gearboxes. The powertrain line-up ranges from a two-wheel drive 158bhp 1.4-litre TSI petrol to a four-wheel drive 175bhp 2.0-litre TDI turbodiesel.

Prices for the Match start at £23,245 for the two-wheel drive 1.4-litre TSI manual, and rise to £28,740 for the four-wheel drive diesel model equipped with a DSG gearbox. The Match is on sale now, with the first cars expected in VW dealers in September.
