Volkswagen Tiguan facelift revealed
VW’s Tiguan small SUV gets a fresh look inside and out, debuts at Geneva Motor Show.
Meet the facelifted Tiguan! VW wasn’t planning to reveal its refreshed SUV until the Geneva Motor Show next month, but huge demand for the model has caused a rethink. VW has had to step-up advance sales of the new car as the last remaining versions of the pre-facelift car have sold out.
And the revised car looks to be a hit too. The restyle brings the car’s looks into line with VW’s current range, including intricate headlights which feature daytime running LEDs, a more prominent two-bar grille, sleeker front bumper and LED taillights.
Tweaks to the interior include the latest touchscreen infotainment system and multi-function steering wheel from the current Golf and revised controls for the air conditioning.
The petrol and diesel engine range is likely to be carried over, and, while UK prices are yet to be confirmed, the price of the all four-wheel-drive line-up in Germany has remained unchanged. The current car starts from £21,215 here.
The Tiguan has been on sale since 2007, and has been a hit, particularly in VW’s home market where the car holds a 21 per cent share of the small SUV sector. VW claims the car’s popularity is down to its five-star EuroNCAP score and its efficient engine range.
