New Vauxhall Corsa 2014 spied

Vauxhall to completely overhaul the new Corsa supermini for 2014, rather than the facelift as previously thought

Vauxhall has dropped its biggest hint yet that the new Corsa to be introduced later this year will be more than just a facelift. Spied wearing a full body disguise for the first time, Vauxhall will give the Corsa a complete new look and interior overhaul. We should see the new model showcased at the Paris Motor Show in September.

This brings an end to speculation that the supermini would only be receiving a minor facelift for 2014, although the model will be based on the same platform as the outgoing model.

As these images confirm, the new-look front end continues to evoke the Adam. Just like the city car, a single chrome bar cuts across the wide, low-set grille, with the centrally mounted Vauxhall badge expanded, too.

A slight crease running down the middle of the bonnet further echoes the brand’s current design language, however the wrap-around headlights appear to have been redesigned for the Corsa.

Previous test cars have been snapped with the same doors and tail end as the current model but these latest shots appear to conceal a higher waistline and chunkier rear.

Most notably, the taillights now seem to stretch onto the boot lid and are linked by a pronounced ridge running across the back of the car.

In terms of performance, there’ll be a range of new engines for the Corsa, including a 113bhp 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine shared with the Adam, the Cascada’s 1.6-litre petrol and Vauxhall’s new 1.6 CDTi diesel that’ll emit under 100g/km of CO2.

We’ll bring you more detailed information when the Corsa is revealed, with prices to be announced closer to the cars official launch.
