Cut-price Vauxhall Corsa Yes Edition gains another engine option
The entry-level version of the popular supermini is now available with five different powertrains, including petrol, hybrid and fully electric
The bargain-basement Vauxhall Corsa Yes Edition is now available with a 99bhp turbocharged 1.2-litre pure-petrol engine and an eight-speed automatic gearbox for £21,640.
That’s about £1,000 less than the equivalent Skoda Fabia, or the same engine/gearbox combo in the higher-spec Corsa Design. Although, the more frugal hybrid set-up is also available in the Yes Edition for only £620 more.
The Corsa Hybrid Yes Edition now starts from £22,260, which is nearly £1,000 more than it did a few months ago. Under the bonnet is the same 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine mated to an automatic gearbox, but one with an e-motor built into it. This allows for short periods of pure-electric driving at low speeds.
As well as a smoother driving experience around town, the hybrid set-up offers better fuel economy and emissions. While the pure-petrol engine and eight-speed auto can return up to 50.4mpg and produces 126g/km of CO2, the Corsa Hybrid’s figures are 62.8mpg and 103g/km.
If you prefer to keep things simple, the most basic Corsa Yes Edition pairs the same 1.2-litre petrol engine with a six-speed manual gearbox. It’s good for up to 53.3mpg, and costs £19,910. However that’s considerably more than the entry-level MG3, Renault Clio and Citroen C3, which are all available from less than £19,000 through our Buy A Car service where you can also lease a new car, buy used or sell your old car.
There are pure-electric versions of the Yes Edition too. The base 50kWh model costs £26,005 after the Government’s Electric Car Grant (ECG) has been applied, has 134bhp on tap and offers 221 miles of range. Meanwhile the range-topping 51kWh version offers a 265-mile range and 154bhp for £27,400 (after the ECG).
What equipment do you get with the Corsa Yes Edition?
Whatever powertrain you pick, the Corsa Yes Edition comes with 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, rear privacy glass and LED tail-lights. It also has the same styling as more expensive GS-trim models, including a black Griffin logo on the grille, black lettering across the rear, and contrasting black roof and door mirrors.
Carbon Black is the standard paint option, while for £650 customers can opt for Contour White, or three exclusive colours – Eucalyptus Green, Kiss Red and Cobalt Blue. These brighter hues also bring a colour-matched strip on the dashboard, door inserts and floor mats.
Petrol versions of the Corsa Yes Edition are equipped with a 3.5-inch digital driver’s display, while the EV benefits from a seven-inch unit. However, every model features a 10-inch central touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a heated steering wheel, heated front seats and several driver-assistance systems.
An extra perk for EV customers is Vauxhall’s new ‘Electric All In’ package. This bundles together eight years of comprehensive roadside assistance (including emergency charging assistance), £500 credit towards an Ohme home wallbox charger or to be spent at public chargers, and 10,000 miles’ worth of free home charging if you switch to the Intelligent Octopus GO home energy tariff, which is aimed at electric car drivers.
