Vauxhall Combo Life and Vivaro Life go exclusively electric for 2022

Vauxhall’s Combo Life and Vivaro Life people-carriers are now EV-only, as the brand looks to go fully electric by 2028

Vauxhall has announced that its Combo Life and Vivaro Life MPVs will be sold exclusively as electric vehicles from 2022, furthering the company’s ambition to become a fully electric brand by 2028. The electric Combo-e Life and Vivaro-e Life models have also received a price reduction across the board.

The smaller Combo-e Life now starts from £29,610 after the government grant has been applied, compared with £30,610 previously. For the seven-seat version, the price rises to £30,110, which is also £1000 less than before. The extended-wheelbase XL model commands a £100 premium over the standard seven-seater, and undercuts the previous price by £2000.

The Combo-e Life uses a 50kWh battery which provides a range of 174 miles. A 134bhp electric motor powers the front wheels alone to bring the van-based MPV from 0-62mph in 11.7 seconds and on to a top speed of 84mph. The Combo-e Life can charge from 0 to 80 per cent in around half an hour.

Vauxhall is also offering cost savings on the larger Vivaro-e Life, which now starts from £30,295 as opposed to £32,135. The long-wheelbase variant is priced at £30,495, compared with £32,495 previously.

The Vivaro-e Life uses the same 134bhp electric motor and 50kWh battery as its smaller relative, but thanks to its larger dimensions and increased weight, claimed range decreases to 143 miles on the WLTP cycle. The Vivaro-e Life can, however, carry up to nine passengers.

The new pricing will apply with immediate effect, and Vauxhall will apply the reduced cost to existing orders, too, except for those purchased through previous customer offers.

The Vivaro-e Life and Combo-e Life form part of Vauxhall’s planned eight-strong electrified line-up by 2023. A plug-in hybrid version of the Astra Sport Tourer estate is due this year, and a fully electric Astra is set to launch in 2023.
