Off-the-shelf Renault Master Dropside conversion launched
Buyers can now order a Renault Master Dropside pick-up directly, rather than ordering a chassis cab and converting it privately
Renault has launched a new in-house Master Dropside pick-up conversion, bypassing the need for buyers to take a chassis cab to a private conversion specialist. The new van has a starting price of £37,892 for the entry-level pick-up, climbing to £48,812 for the range-topping double cab tipper.
Buyers can choose from three load lengths – medium, long and extra long – the largest of which can accomodate loads up to 4,300mm long and up to 1,664kg in weight. There’s also a choice of either single or double cab body styles and, on the tipper variant, buyers can also spec a lightweight aluminium load tray.
As standard the Renault Master Dropside comes with rear corner pillars, a foldaway step on the rear side panel, non-slip wooden flooring, a protective mesh divider for the passenger cab and between six and eight anchorage points, depending on the version.
Beyond this, almost all creature comforts are optional extras. Buyers can spec electric windows, manual air conditioning, cruise control, front fog lamps, metallic paint and a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with bluetooth connectivity.
There’s a host of optional functional modifications too, such as air suspension, a larger 105-litre fuel tank, a tool compartment and ladder rack, an increased engine idle speed, a tow bar, all-weather tyres and, for the rear-wheel drive variants, a locking differential.
Like the Master panel van, the Dropside pick-up comes with a choice of turbocharged 2.3-litre four-cylinder diesel engines and either front- or rear-wheel drive. Front-driven models come with Renault’s dCi 135 and dCi 150 powertrains, which offer 133bhp and 148bhp respectively.
Rear-wheel drive models can be specced with Renault’s dCi 130 or dCi 145 units, which have outputs of 128bhp and 143bhp respectively. It’s also possible to opt for a twin wheel layout on the back axle to boost traction. All four engines also come with a six-speed manual gearbox as standard – and there’s no option to spec an automatic.
As well as an outright purchase option, Renault also offers a series of finance deals. The entry-level Dropside pick-up can be had on a 48-month, 10,000 mile per annum contract, which starts with a £2,052 deposit, followed by 47 monthly payments of £342.
