Suzuki Swift SZ-L special edition

Suzuki announces limited edition Swift SZ-L to go on sale on March 1 from £10,899

This is the Suzuki Swift SZ-L, a special edition version of the Japanese firm’s popular supermini. Just 500 will be built, with prices starting at £10,899 for the three-door model, and £11,316 for the five-door.

The Swift SZ-L is based on the mid-spec Swift SZ3, and can only be had with the existing 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine. But that means you’re already starting with a decent list of equipment that includes seven airbags, air conditioning, a USB port and Bluetooth as standard.

The SZ-L adds the LED daytime running lights and cruise control from the top-spec Swift SZ4. The car is also only available with a two-tone colour scheme – buyers can choose from either Boost Blue or Cosmic Black body colours with a contrasting Cool White roof, rear spoiler and door mirrors.

In addition to the extra kit inside, you also get silver stitching on the steering wheel, gear gaiter and seats.

The Swift SZ-L’s 1.2-litre engine develops 93bhp, which is sent to the front wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox. The engine allows the car to complete the benchmark 0-62mph sprint in 12.3 seconds. Maximum speed is 103mph.

Suzuki claims fuel economy of 56.5mpg and CO2 emissions of 116g/km, giving a £30 VED rate after the first year of registration. The SZ-L also sits in insurance group 11E, making it cost exactly the same to insure as any other non-Sport version of the Swift.

The Swift SZ-L’s competitive prices are a result of the fact that the car is being offered as part of Suzuki’s recently extended VAT free promotion, which will run until the end of March.
