Used SEAT Ibiza (Mk4, 2008-2017) - What do owners think?

The Ibiza is stylish and good to drive, but issues with quality and the dealer network mean it’s not all plain sailing

In recent years SEAT made big strides in terms of the build quality and reliability of its cars before this Ibiza was launched, yet it’s still not a match for the best of the era. This is reflected in the firm’s 15th place finish out of 30 brands in our Driver Power survey, with owners critical of customer service and niggling issues with their cars.

Reliability

Ibiza's age is catching up with it, as it finished 169th in our Driver Power 2015 satisfaction survey, the last time the Mk4 featured. The only top 100 score was 99th for running costs, with handling 114th and ease of driving 118th. The lowest results were for seat comfort (192nd), ride quality (181st) and in-car tech (177th). Yet while build quality isn’t great and there are electrical niggles, the Ibiza is overall a fairly dependable machine.

That said, particularly care needs to be taken over the twin-charged 1.4-litre Cupra models. If it hasn’t been properly maintained this complex unit can suffer from expensive issues.
