Renault Captur gets more powerful diesel engine
Renault's small crossover can now be bought with a 109bhp diesel engine, that still manages 76mpg
The Renault Captur is one of our favourite small crossovers, and the range has just got more appealing with the addition of a more powerful version of the existing 1.5-litre dCI diesel engine.
Renault claims it is responding to customer's demands for the option of a faster model by introducing the range-topping unit on its Nissan Juke rival. the dCI 110 is available from £17,695 on Dynamique, Dynamique S and Signature trims, and gets 109bhp and 260Nm of torque.
Despite that increase of 20bhp and 40Nm over the dCI 90 unit, the new engine is capable of 76.4mpg in the combined cycle, almost identical to the lower-powered unit. It also produces CO2 emissions of 98g/km, meaning free road tax.
Performance improves significantly due to the extra power, with the 0-62mph time down from 12.6 seconds to 11 seconds flat. The top speed also rises from 106mph to 109mph. The new engine will be available to order on the Captur from the 1st of April.
