Porsche Cayenne 2014 facelift: first pictures

Spy shots of the revised Porsche Cayenne that's due in late 2014

An all-new Porsche Cayenne is set to arrive in 2017 but before that third generation version of Porsche's luxury SUV arrives, Porsche will give the current Cayenne a thorough facelift late this year.

These spy shots show the facelifted 2014 Cayenne undergoing testing ahead of its launch, which is likely to take place at the Paris Motor Show in September. The car is set to go on-sale in the UK before the end of 2014.

Like the recently updated Panamera, the Cayenne looks set to receive slightly softer, more stylish LED headlights, as well as redesigned bumpers. Expect the tail-light design to more closely resemble that of the new Macan, too.

Changes to the engine line-up are expected to mirror those in the Panamera, so we're expecting the 4.8-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine in the Cayenne S to be ditched in favour of a new twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6 producing 420bhp. Power of the top-spec Turbo and Turbo S models is expected to jump by 20bhp, taking the totals from 493bhp to 513bhp, and 542bhp to 562bhp respectively.

There may be small tweaks to improve efficiency in the line-up, too. Porsche already offers a Cayenne Hybrid and it's likely to introduce a new Cayenne S E-Hybrid plug-in, as in the updated Panamera range. It'll be capable of 0-62mph in around six seconds, with fuel economy of more than 80mpg.

To ensure you can’t miss the Cayenne S E-Hybrid, it’ll be offered with silver and neon green badges and bright green-painted brake calipers, like the Panamera.

Prices are likely to climb a little over today’s car. The current entry level Cayenne Diesel starts at £47,390, rising to £107,784 for the Turbo S. Expect an entry price of around £49,000 for the Diesel, going up to £115,000 for the Turbo S.

As with the current model, Porsche will continue to build the Cayenne at its plant in Leipzig. However, the bodies will still be built alongside the VW Touareg and Audi Q7 at the VW Group plant in Bratislava, Slovakia.
