Stealthy new Porsche Black Edition models revealed

Boxster and 911 Black Edition models get black interior and exterior, as well as added kit

Porsche 911 Black Edition

Porsche has revealed a pair of new Black Edition models, which – as you’d expect – feature pure black paintwork, black interiors and further black highlights inside and out.

The Porsche Boxster Black Edition uses the standard car’s mid-mounted 2.7-litre flat-six engine. It gets 261bhp and is good for 0-62mph in 5.8 seconds.

Design highlights include black paint, a set of 20-inch Carrera Classic wheels, xenon headamps and a black soft top. Inside, all cars get a partial-leather black interior with the Porsche crest embossed on the headrests, as well as touchscreen sat-nav and a Sport Design steering wheel. Parking sensors and an upgraded sound system are also included, as are auto lights and wipers and cruise control.

Prices starts from £46,164, commanding a £6,631 premium over the standard Boxster. The faster Boxster S still costs from £47,858 – but isn't available as a Black Edition model.

Elsewhere, Porsche has instilled the same treatment on the 911 Carrera and 911 Carrera Cabriolet. All cars get the entry-level 345bhp 3.4-litre flat-six, with a choice of two or four-wheel drive, as well as 20-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights and Porsche’s Dynamic Light System Plus. Inside, you’ll find heated leather seats, a Bose sound system, cruise control and a Sport Design steering wheel. Front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera and rain sensing wipers are all standard, too.

The Porsche 911 Black Edition starts from £75,074 for the standard Coupe, rising to £86,125 for the all-wheel drive Carrera 4 Cabriolet. While both Black Edition Coupe models cost more than their base-spec siblings, the Cabriolets – rather bizarrely – come in at slightly less.

Both the Boxster and 911 Black Edition models go on sale today, and are available from Porsche Centres nationwide.
