Singer DLS Turbo revealed celebrating Porsche 934/5 endurance racers

Singer takes its Porsche 911 restomods to new heights of performance with the DLS Turbo

Singer, the Californian creator of beautifully detailed restomods based on classic Porsches, has taken its creations to another level of performance with the new Singer DLS Turbo. Customers who have a classic 964 Porsche 911 and sufficiently big reserves of cash can commission Singer to build one of these machines that hark back to the Porsche 934/5 endurance racers of the 1970s.

The Singer DLS Turbo is a progression from the firm’s most recent creations, the DLS (Dynamic and Lightweight Study) launched in 2018 and the Turbo Study of 2022. It’s designed, according to Singer, for optimum road and track performance.

The process of creating the car involves painstakingly taking the Porsche 964 donor car to pieces, right down to the monocoque chassis. It is then repaired, cleaned and reassembled with bespoke carbon fibre bodywork designed to optimise aerodynamics and cooling.

Owners can order their Singer DLS Turbo with a bespoke driving experience focused on road, track or a preferred balance between the two disciplines. The Blood Orange car pictured is of the track-focused variety with adjustable rear wing while the Moet Blanc white model gets the ducktail spoiler and a drag-reducing front fascia.

The engine is completely rebuilt with high performance parts and the resulting 3.8-litre flat-six uses twin turbochargers with electric wastegates to produce over 690bhp in its liveliest states of tune. The magic happens at over 9,000rpm. All that power goes direct to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox, and a set of carbon ceramic brakes take care of stopping duties.

Singer doesn’t quote prices for its cars but owners can specify the make-up of their vehicle down to the finest detail with bespoke paint, leather and material finishes all on offer in addition to the mechanical tweaks. It’s a cliche but If you have to ask, you probably couldn’t afford it.

Visitors to the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed will get the chance to see the Singer DLS Turbo in action.
