Peugeot 208 GTi prices

Peugeot has announced that the 208 GTi will start from £18,895 when order books open in March

The Peugeot 208 GTi will be priced from £18,895 when order books for the hot hatch open on 1 March. Powered by a 200bhp 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, the new 208 GTi is capable of covering 0-62mph in 6.8 seconds.

The new 208 GTi will have some stiff competition when it arrives later in the year, including the equivalently powerful Renaultsport Clio EDC and new Ford Fiesta ST. The most basic Ford Fiesta ST1 model undercuts the 208 GTi price by £1,900.

Standard equipment on the 208 GTi will include 17-inch alloys, a GTi-specific front grille, twin chrome exhaust tailpipes, LED running lights and GTi badging. Inside, the GTi benefits from leather and cloth upholstery with red trim details, a DAB radio and rear parking aid.

To ensure the 208 GTi is worthy of the badge, Peugeot claims that it has added weight to the steering and retuned both the front and rear suspension of the standard 208 hatchback to improve feel and agility, while the track is 10mm wider at the front and 20mm wider at the rear.

Prices for the luxurious Peugeot 208 XY have also been confirmed: they’ll start at £16,545. Only available as a three-door hatchback, the 208 XY replaces the current Feline three-door (while the five-door 208 Feline continues unchanged).

Standard equipment on the 208 XY includes 17-inch alloys, a unique XY front grille, sat-nav, DAB radio, the Cielo panoramic roof and a rear parking aid.

Production for both the 208 GTi and 208 XY begins in April, with the first cars expected to arrive in May.
