Peugeot 208 engines

Engine range for the new Peugeot 208 is confirmed

Peugeot has confirmed its engine line-up for the new Peugeot 208 supermini, and all the diesels will have sub-100g/km emissions. A new 1.0-litre three cylinder petrol engine will also dip under the magic 100g/km threshold.

Four of the five diesels on offer will be fitted with Peugeot's e-HDi micro hybrid Stop and Start system.

First up is the 68bhp 1.4-litre diesel, which emits 87g/km and returns 83.1mpg fuel economy with Stop and Start. It is also available without Stop and Start, with the figures rising to 98g/km and 74.3mpg.

A 92bhp 1.6-litre diesel offers identical figures, when fitted with either a five-speed manual or six-speed automated manual. A 115bhp version of the same engine is paired to a six-speed manual and does 99g/km and 74.3mpg.

The new 1.0 VTi petrol is offered with a five-speed manual and delivers 99g/km and 65.7mpg. An 82bhp 1.2 (104g/km and 62.8mpg), a 95bhp 1.4 (129g/km and 50.4mpg), a 120bhp 1.6 (134g/km and 48.7mpg) and six-speed 1.8 (135g/km and 48.7mpg) are also available.

The new 208 goes on sale in the UK in June.
