Special Nissan Qashqai e-Power Kuro Edition revealed

Nissan’s top-selling SUV is now available in new Kuro Edition guise

The popular Nissan Qashqai will be available for a limited time in a new Kuro Edition, adding a few bespoke styling additions to the mid-spec N-Connecta trim level. Available exclusively with Nissan’s e-Power hybrid powertrain, pricing for the special edition has yet to be confirmed, but shouldn’t be far off the standard N-Connecta’s £35,840.

Kuro Edition is visually signified with a unique black finish to the existing 18-inch wheel design, plus one of three two-tone exterior colour options. The Storm White and Ceramic Grey finishes come with a black roof, while models finished in Pearl Black are contrasted with a grey roof.

The Kuro Edition also adds a glass roof, illuminated door sill inserts and a wireless charging pad for your smartphone to the interior, which builds on the N-Connecta’s already comprehensive specification that includes a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with standard Apple Carplay and Android Auto, 360-degree camera system, fully digital instrument cluster and a full suite of active safety gear.

Nissan’s clever e-Power hybrid system is the only powertrain option for the Kuro Edition, which runs in a generator format. This system sees the wheels largely powered by the on-board electric motor, which draws power from a 1.5-litre petrol engine. As well as allowing for more engine-off running, this also streamlines the petrol engine’s operations and results in impressive claimed efficiency figures of around 55mpg.

As the UK’s biggest seller so far in 2023, the British-built Qashqai continues to perform well in a very competitive class. The new Kuro Edition will likely only make it even more desirable for those wanting their Qashqai to feature a unique look and a few extra toys thrown in.
