Nissan Micra 2013

The facelifted Nissan Micra gets a more masculine look, extra tech and an improved interior

Nissan has updated the Micra with a more masculine look, new infotainment technology and an improved interior.

The changes to the front end are pretty extensive, with the Micra adopting a new grille, bonnet, wings, headlights and bumper to create a less bug-eyed look that fits in better with the rest of Nissan’s range.

Updates at the back are less pronounced, but Nissan has subtly tweaked the bumper and fitted a set of LED tail-lights. Plus, buyers can now choose the colour of the wheelcaps and door mirrors.

There’s a selection of new paint colours, too – including the Pacific Blue in our pictures – and fresh alloy wheel designs.

Inside, the centre console has been restyled and is now finished in a classy gloss black, while all models now come equipped with a 12V socket for charging electronic devices on the move.

The latest NissanConnect infotainment system is now offered, and features a screen which has increased in size from five inches to 5.8 inches. It’s got Google Send-To-Car tech fitted as well, which allows drivers to plan a route at home and send instructions to the car.

There haven’t been any changes to the engine line-up or the chassis, so it’s the same choice of a 1.2-litre petrol engine with 79bhp or a supercharged 1.2-litre engine with 97bhp. The latter claims impressively low CO2 emissions of 95g/km, with fuel economy of 68.9mpg. The standard 1.2-litre has figures of 57.0mpg and 115g/km.

The facelifted Micra goes on sale here in September, and while pricing hasn’t yet been revealed, we’ve been told to expect very little in the way of changes.
