New 2022 Nissan Leaf model refresh revealed

Nissan Leaf updated with new colours, wheels and goes on sale in March

Nissan has given the Leaf a refresh for 2022. On sale from March, prices will start from £26,995 after the plug-in grant is applied and deliveries are expected from April.

Amongst the latest additions are the choice of sporty black multi-spoke 16- or 17-inch alloy wheels updated to feature the new Nissan logo. Two new colours have been added to the car’s palette, including Pearl Blue and Magnetic Blue, previously only available on the Qashqai crossover and due to appear on the brand’s Ariya electric SUV, when it launches later this year.

These new shades join a colour swatch including five monotone options and five two-tone options.

Battery and motor options stay the same, with the 39kWh battery offering a range of 168 miles and the Leaf e+ 59kWh battery a range of up to 239 miles, according to official WLTP testing.

The Leaf gets Nissan’s ProPilot driver assistance system which includes adaptive cruise control, lane assist and traffic jam assist. The semi-autonomous tech aims to make driving on motorways and around towns less tiring, by maintaining a safe distance from the car in front. The ‘e-Pedal’ is another key feature of the Leaf, that uses regenerative braking to give the driver the ability to control the car’s speed using just the accelerator pedal.

Inside, the infotainment system uses NissanConnect, which means the driver can use Android Auto and Apple CarPlay along with Nissan’s own user interface. The NissanConnect app, available from the N-Connecta trim up, also allows owners to control various features including climate control from their smartphone. Later in the year the Leaf will also be able to link to Amazon Alexa.
