Everrati reveals electric Ford GT40 recreation

Everrati has announced a new Ford GT40 continuation with a custom EV powertrain

Electric restomod specialist Everrati has revealed its latest creation: a fully electric version of the legendary Le Mans winning Ford GT40.

It joins Everrati converted versions of the 964-generation Porsche 911 and Mercedes SL Pagoda. But these GT40s aren’t converted originals - they’re new shells and chassis’ built by Superformance, a company specialising in continuation 60s racers.

Based in the US, Superformance has been building continuations of American classics since 1994, under licence from trademark holders such as General Motors.

Development of the electric GT40 is already underway at Everrati’s Oxford facility, where the firm’s EV drivetrain is being adapted to a rolling chassis provided by Superformance.

Justin Lunny, CEO of Everrati, said: “This is the perfect partnership. The sole focus of both Everrati and Superformance is iconic cars and Lance and his team are THE guys when it comes to authorised continuation chassis of some of the most legendary cars in history. Marrying these chassis with our advanced EV powertrains and precision engineering will enhance performance while keeping the essence and soul of the original. We aim to create the best electric driver’s cars while, at the same time, future-proofing these true past masters.”

Everrati’s electric Porsche 911 uses speakers at the rear of the car to give a synthesised exhaust note, and we expect to see a similar system fitted to the GT40, to emulate the thunderous V8 of the original.

Pricing and further details of the electric GT40 will follow later in 2021.
