Track-only Pagani Huayra R unleashed

£2.2 million plus tax each for 30-car run of extreme Pagani Huayra R

Italian supercar maker Pagani has revealed an extreme version of its Huayra supercar that’s destined for use on the tracks of the world.

The Pagani Huayra R weighs just 1,050kg (dry), and unlike the Huayra road car uses a naturally aspirated 6.0-litre V12 engine that revs to 9,000rpm and produces 838bhp and 750Nm of torque.

The engine and six-speed sequential gearbox were designed by German racing team HWA, which builds Mercedes-AMG GT racers, as well as racing in Formula 2, Formula 3 and Formula E.

The Huayra R’s chassis is even new, with the carbon fibre monocoque’s structural rigidity increased by 16 per cent compared with the road car. The chassis even fully incorporates the seats.

The rest of the car is like a who’s who of high-end motoring brands, with Brembo developing and building a state-of-the-art carbon-ceramic braking system, and APP providing lightweight 19-inch forged alloy wheels, wrapped in bespoke slick rubber from Pirelli, who also provide wet-weather tyres.

Inside, the driver can use the multifunction wheel to adjust the traction control, ABS mapping and car-to-pit radio. The electronically controlled suspension can be adjusted from the centre console, too.

There’s even an on-board telemetry system, so drivers can keep a watchful eye on the state of the mechanicals, as well as analysing how they can go faster and improve lap time with a full telemetry package - because the Huayra R is a track-only model and not road legal.

Pagani will provide owners with “highly personalised events” to enjoy the R - and the noise it makes.

The Inconel-alloy exhaust has been designed to be as light as possible while providing maximum throughflow of gas, while giving the car the voice of an “F1 car of the past”, according to Pagani. And if the noise police deem your Huayra R too loud, Pagani has even provided quick-fit silencers, so you can adhere to the FIA-mandated 110dB volume limit that is imposed on many circuits.

Pagani will be building just 30 examples of the Huayra R, at a cool €2.6 million plus tax each, which equates to around £2.2 million before VAT in the UK.
