New MINI John Cooper Works add-ons let buyers really express themselves

155mph MINI can now shout about its performance with JCW Accessory collection

MINI has revealed a range of new accessories for its John Cooper Works three-door hatchback to “visibly enhance the compact performance model’s motorsport-inspired character”.

John Cooper Works or ‘JCW’ is the name MINI gives its sportiest models, inspired by the legendary race car builder. The three-door, petrol-powered MINI JCW is easily the closest model within the company’s current line-up to the iconic rally-winning original of the sixties.

The new accessories should help the JCW stand out a bit more from lesser models because they include an extended roof spoiler, new winglets on the rear diffuser, both bumpers and side skirts, and carbon detailing around the central exhaust tip. There’s more carbon for the fuel filler cap, JCW-branded wheels and valve caps, and 18-inch two-spoke rims.

The exterior options also include gradient black and red mirror caps, a red tow strap on the front bumper, a red stripe that flows from the bonnet to the colour-contrast red roof and the bootlid, some side decals, and Indigo Sunset Blue body paint. Each accessory can be bought individually instead as part of a package, with the Rallye wheels costing £2,450 and the diffuser £446, while the various winglets range from £202 to £536.

The accessories have no effect on the JCW three-door’s performance. With a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine producing 228bhp and 380Nm of torque, the MINI will sprint to 62mph in 6.1 seconds and hit a top speed of 155mph.

While the JCW is the top-rung version of the MINI Cooper, a Sport trim can be added to lesser Cooper C and Cooper S models, bringing JCW bumpers front and rear, a rear roof spoiler, 18-inch rally-style wheels, and even John Cooper Works badging.

MINI is one of the few manufacturers still making a hot hatch and right now there are great deals to be had on loads of MINI JCW models when you head to the Auto Express Buy A Car service
