New McLaren 720S Spider by MSO debuts tri-tone paint at Geneva
McLaren Special Operations showcases customised 720S Spider at Geneva, featuring a tri-tone paint-job and carbon fibre accessories
McLaren Special Operations have shown off a unique version of the 720S Spider at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. Finished in a tri-tone paint-job and fitted with a range of carbon fibre accents, the show car has been designed as an advertisement for MSO’s workmanship.
The custom paint-job took 260 hours to complete, and McLaren claims the tri-tone motif has been applied in a manner which mimics the flow of air over the 720S Spider’s body when moving. Two shades of metallic blue and a metallic black sit over a grey base coat, covering the car’s splitter, door mirrors, front air intakes, rear bumper and active rear spoiler.

In addition to the painstaking paint job, MSO fitted the exterior of the Geneva-edition 720S Spider with 10-spoke lightweight alloy wheels, blue brake calipers, a carbon engine cover, carbon fibre sills, a carbon fibre diffuser, a sports exhausts, black exterior trim and electrochromic glass for the retractable hard-top.
Inside, the MSO 720S Spider gets a pair of carbon fibre-backed seats trimmed in leather and Alcantara, MSO branding on the accelerator pedal, carbon fibre interior trim, unique badging for the floor mats and headrests and a custom key-fob with which matches the exterior finish of the car.
It’s powered by the same 710bhp 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine as the standard 720S Spider. Performance is fed through a seven-speed automatic gearbox to the rear wheels, allowing a 0–62mph sprint of 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 212mph with the roof raised or 202mph with it lowered.
