2015 Mazda CX-5 facelift: full specs and prices

New details on updated Mazda CX-5 crossover ahead of its spring release date, with extra standard equipment

The facelifted Mazda CX-5 crossover comes to showrooms in spring 2015, and there are plenty of minor tweaks inside and out, as well as new safety tech and equipment.

The current Mazda CX-5 is one of our favourite SUVs, winning our Best Crossover award back in 2012. Yet rivals such as the new Nissan Qashqai have since caught up, so Mazda has tweaked the styling to keep it ahead of the game.

Seen first at the LA Motor Show in November, the revamped Skoda Yeti rival also gets a revised front grille and a new LED headlamp design, as well as fresh wheels and foglamps.

Inside, the changes are more extensive, with updated materials all-round and an electronic handbrake for the first time. Additional soundproofing and tweaks to the springs and dampers should make the cabin quieter and improve the ride and handling.

Equipment across the range is improved with the update, including a new seven-inch touchscreen system called MZD Connect. The system adds DAB radio for the first time, and advanced smartphone pairing allowing internet connection and on-screen browsing. It's mated with the firm's Multimedia Controller dial for ease of use, and is standard on all models.

Also standard is a coming/leaving headlamp function and passenger seat height adjustment. Top-spec Sport Nav models now get LED headlamps and running lights, plus LED foglamps and 19-inch gunmetal alloy wheels. It also gets an updated sat-nav system with better mapping.

Optional kit now includes radar cruise control and additional technology added to the Safety Pack, Adaptive LED headlamps with an anti-dazzle function feature, and there's a new lane-keep assist function with Driver Attention Alert. Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Traffic alert is available, plus Smart City Braking.

The engine range remains unchanged, with the familiar 2.0-litre petrol and 2.2-litre diesel in various states of tune. The new CX-5 is expected to appear in March/April, with prices starting from £22,295 and topping out at £30,595.
