Lotus Evora 400 gets even lighter with new Carbon Pack

Lotus has unveiled a new Carbon Pack for the Evora 400, which includes some lightweight components to reduce the car's total weight from 1,395kg to just 1,353kg. It's available now, and costs an additional £6,500 on top of the regular price of the Evora 400.

The Carbon Pack utilises lighter components already fitted to the Lotus Evora Sport 410, and includes a front splitter, roof panel, rear wing centre, rear diffuser finisher, front access panel and wing mirror caps. All parts are handmade and aid in cutting the car's weight.

The air-conditioning system has been removed, as well as the back seats – both come as a no-cost options, so you can have them back if you wish. The total weight saving comes to 42kg.

A titanium exhaust and a lithium-ion battery are also on the options list, costing £5,500 and £1,350 respectively. In the cabin, Lotus has fitted a lightweight cup holder and tray, though this is also on the options list in the UK.

Power still comes from a 3.5 litre supercharged V6, and the output is unchanged at 395bhp. The Evora 400 as standard goes from 0-62mph in 4.2 seconds, but the lighter model is expected to be even faster than that.

Lotus is in its 68th year of production and still follows the less is more mantra. The ethos of Lotus founder, Colin Chapman, is continued with lightweight designs and construction. CEO of Group Lotus plc, Jean-Marc Gales, said: “The Lotus Evora 400 is already the lightest car in its segment, with supercar performance, benchmark handling and the purity of the driving experience expected of a Lotus.

“We are now giving customers an opportunity to drive an even lighter and more responsive car.”
