Updated 2024 Lexus LC 500 revealed with exclusive Ultimate Edition

All 2024 LC 500 models will pick up a new touchscreen infotainment system and subtle chassis updates

The eccentric Lexus LC 500 coupe and convertible have been tweaked once more, offering a combination of small updates around the chassis, and crucially, the infotainment system. Lexus will continue to offer both V8 and hybrid powertrains, the latter reserved for the Coupe, plus there’s a new Ultimate Edition offering a special collection of bespoke colour and trim elements.

All new LC models feature a new 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system borrowed from other Lexus models. This replaces the previous unit that was controlled via Lexus’ controversial touchpad, and should bring the GT right up to date in terms of its digital interfaces and user-friendliness.

Lexus has also been fiddling with the chassis, with subtle changes to the suspension setup, wheel hubs and engine mounts with the aim of improving the steering response and general road-holding. Brake feel has also been tweaked, and the software within the 10-speed automatic gearbox has been recalibrated. V8-powered models feature a new Expert driver mode which enables a full disengagement of the traction and stability control systems.

The hybrid-powered LC 500h has been given a slight upgrade with new lithium-ion battery cells that improve power delivery to the system.

Alongside the existing range structure, Lexus has revealed an exclusive Ultimate Edition at the top of the range. The new, ultra-exclusive model will arrive with a collection of bespoke styling elements alongside a distinctive colour scheme. Just four Ultimate Edition LC Convertibles and a single Coupe will be available in the UK.

The LC 500 Ultimate Edition will share its specification with the top-tier Sport+ model, but build on that with a unique matt finish Hakugin White exterior paint finish contrasted with black trim elements around the head and tail lights, grille surround and rear bumper finishers. This is paired with a dark grey finish on the forged 21-inch wheels, a pairing that references the iconic Lexus LFA supercar’s hero colour combination. There are also a few minor changes to the car’s aerodynamic package, including some small devices fitted to the front bumper, plus the active rear wing is now made from carbon fibre.

This bright exterior is contrasted inside the cockpit with a Kachi-Blue interior which is applied quite liberally from carpets to roof lining. Contrasted with white stitching, this combination is unique to the Ultimate Edition and is applied to a full application of high-specification semi-aniline leather finish in the coupe, and a combination leather/Alcantara finish on the convertible.

Prices for the main 2024 LC 500 range have yet to be confirmed, but the Ultimate Editions will cost £116,000 for the coupe and £122,000 for the four convertibles.
