New Kia Picanto Shadow edition on sale from £13,845

The Shadow edition adds more equipment and exclusive design touches to Kia’s Picanto city car

Kia picanto shadow edition

Kia has launched a special edition ‘Shadow’ version of its Picanto hatchback, which brings generous equipment levels and a bespoke colour scheme to the brand’s popular city car. Priced from £13,845, the Picanto Shadow edition is on sale in the UK now.

The Picanto Shadow edition is finished in Astro Grey metallic paint, and receives larger 15-inch alloy wheels as standard. Privacy glass and front fog lights are also included, alongside LED daytime running lights.

In line with the ‘shadow’ theme, the interior is trimmed in a synthetic black leather upholstery unique to the special edition, with light grey stitching. There’s an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment set-up that features wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as a reversing camera.

While the Picanto 2 is equipped with a four-speaker stereo, the Shadow edition gets a six-speaker system. Other features include air-conditioning, electrically adjustable heated door mirrors and a centre console storage box with a sliding armrest. A number of safety systems, such as forward collision avoidance, electronic stability control and torque vectoring by braking are also installed.

Under the bonnet, the Picanto Shadow edition is powered by the same 66bhp naturally-aspirated 1.0-litre petrol engine as the standard car and is mated to a five-speed manual transmission for a 0-62mph time of 13.8 seconds.

Kia hasn’t revealed exact efficiency figures for the Picanto Shadow edition, but this engine offers fuel economy from 55.4-58.9mpg and CO2 emissions of 110-123g/km elsewhere in the range, depending on spec.

At £13,845 the Picanto Shadow commands an £845 premium over the Picanto 2 trim on which it’s based, but Kia is targeting strong residual values thanks to the increased level of equipment this new special-edition model brings. Customer deliveries of the new Picanto Shadow are scheduled to begin in early 2022.
