Kia Cee’d - best hatchbacks 2017

Kia now rivals some of the best manufacturers, and the Cee'd is no exception in the hatchback class

Kia Cee'd - front

Forget the days when Kia was regarded as a value brand, because the Cee’d stands comparison with the very best cars in the class, even if you take price out of the equation. On the outside its tidy looks are a world away from the dowdy looks of past Kia models and the interior is just a smart. It’s spacious too, and crammed full of useful kit so there’s plenty for private buyers to enjoy.

A seven-year warranty package and attractive Care-3 pre-paid servicing deal mean the Kia Cee’d looks like a no brainer for cash-strapped families. Pick of the bunch is the 1.6 CRDi ISG, which features stop-start technology and promises official fuel economy of 76mpg.

Take the Kia for a drive and you won’t be disappointed as it’s a very competent family hatch – it’s just not as fun or engaging as the class leaders. And that’s what prevents it from taking a higher position in our top 10. You won’t drive the Kia Cee’d for the sheer hell of it, but as simple family transport its takes some beating.
