Jaguar XF Saloon and Sportbrake get new R-Sport branding

First Jaguar model to get new trim grade that pairs economical diesel engines with sporty looks

Jaguar has revealed the XF Saloon and Sportbrake R-Sport models at the Geneva Motor Show.

As part of the 2015 XF range, this new specification aims to mix the low running costs of the company’s efficient diesel engines but with the looks of its sportier models with upgraded exterior and interior design as well as optional styling packs.

The two models will be fitted with the maker’s 2.2-litre four-cylinder 161bhp diesel engine, as well as stop/start and the maker’s eight-speed automatic gearbox. All this means that the car will return an average of 57mpg and emits 129g/km (with 17-inch alloys).

However, this is all combined with a more aggressive styling than the standard cars with unique badging on the side vents, steering wheel and tread plats, along with a Sport front bumper, ‘R’ style side sills and a unique rear spoiler.

It also gets 17-inch alloys wheels as standard, while on the inside its gets an upgraded interior with various materials to choose from including carbon fibre or piano black inserts.

Buyers can also add the optional black pack, which includes full gloss black grille surround, gloss black lower bumper inserts and gloss black roof rails on the Sportbrake model.

According to Steven De Ploey, Jaguar Global Brand Director, the new trim is aimed at company car drivers after the styling of the brand’s high-performance cars. “Business users and fleet managers will be able to enjoy the seductive design from the high performance 'R' models, while benefiting from the low emissions and high fuel efficiency of the powertrain.”

The new R-Sport models will be cost from £35,445 for the saloon model and £36,445 for the Sportbrake version, and are available to order now.
