Hyundai i30 Fastback N Line: UK prices and specs

Hyundai has given the i30 Fastback the same sporty N Line treatment as the hatch, with a new bodykit and a peppy 1.0-litre petrol engine

Hyundai i30 Fastback N Line

Hyundai has announced pricing and specifications for the i30 Fastback N Line. Already seen in the hatchback range, N Line is a sports-inspired trim level, which sits between the mainstream i30 models and the range-topping i30N hot hatchback. It adds a range of styling upgrades and a slight improvement in performance. On sale now, the new model starts at £20,495.

The changes to the exterior mirror those of the range-topping i30N Fastback, with 18-inch alloy wheels, a more aggressive front bumper, a deeper rear bumper and a reworked rear diffuser with the firm’s signature triangular fog lamp. The i30N’s red pinstripes have also been replaced with more subtle silver lines.

The N Line package contains more than just cosmetic upgrades, however. It also adds larger brake discs, bigger calipers, stiffer suspension and a set of sticky Michelin PS4 tyres.

Buyers of the i30 Fastback can choose the new trim level with two engines. Entry-level cars come with a reworked version of Hyundai’s turbocharged 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol unit, which produces 117bhp and 171Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox, giving a 0–62mph time of 11.5 seconds and a top speed of 117mph.

For £21,760, buyers can have a turbocharged 1.4-litre four-cylinder petrol, with 136bhp and 242Nm of torque. As standard, it comes with a six-speed manual gearbox but, for an extra £1,000, owners can opt for a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The two transmissions’ 0–62mph times stand at 9.5 seconds and 9.2 seconds respectively, while their top speeds are 126mph and 129mph.

Inside, the i30 Fastback N Line gets black headlining, an N Line-branded gearlever and a pair of cloth sports seats with electronically adjustable lumbar support on the driver’s side. Standard equipment includes an eight-inch touchscreen display, air-conditioning and an automatically dimming rear-view mirror.

As in the i30 hatchback range, Hyundai also offers the Fastback with a high-spec N Line + package. Starting from £23,760, this adds a heated steering wheel, LED headights, dual-zone climate control, automatic rain-sensing windscreen wipers and a pair of heated, electrically adjustable leather-and-suede-trimmed sports seats.
