New Hyundai i20 facelift prices and specs released

The updated Hyundai i20 gets a new look and extra safety tech, but starting prices have risen to £13,995

Hyundai has confirmed full pricing details for the updated i20, with the new model starting from £13,995. As the Ford Fiesta rival kicks off with the same 74bhp 1.2-litre petrol as before, that marks an increase of almost £2,000 - though equipment levels have improved significantly to compensate.

All models in the i20 line-up now feature a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system as standard, complete with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a reversing camera and Bluetooth. The S also gains air conditioning and auto headlights over the model it replaces.

The new SE trim starts from £15,495 - a £1,480 rise over the previous version. The increase is justified by the addition of a host of safety tech, including autonomous emergency braking, lane keeping assist, driver attention alert and high beam assist. The SE adds to the S with alloy wheels, front fog lamps, cruise control, rear parking sensors and rear electric windows.

Above those two trims sit the Premium Nav and Premium SE Nav. The former starts from £16,245, and features 16-inch alloy wheels, satellite navigation, LED tail lights, all-round parking sensors, and climate control. For an extra £1,050, the Premium SE Nav adds a panoramic sunroof, a push-button start and a heated steering wheel and front seats.

The engine lineup remains the same as the outgoing i20 - the diesel was dropped mid-2017 - so there’s a choice of 1.2-litre petrol with either 74bhp or 83bhp and 1.0-litre turbo with either 99bhp or 118bhp. The 99bhp version of the 1.0-litre is now offered with a new auto - a seven speed twin-clutch automatic - which is a £1,250 option.
