Honda CR-V (2017-2023) review - Reliability and safety
There's lots of standard safety kit for the CR-V, while Honda has an impressive reliability record
A significant change for the latest generation CR-V is that the Honda Sensing suite of safety systems is now fitted to all models, rather than being limited to the higher-specification versions. This includes forward collision warning and autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assistance and adaptive cruise control, plus traffic sign recognition amongst others. It’s a big boost to the CR-V’s safety credentials.
The latest CR-V was tested by Euro NCAP in early 2019, and thanks to that standard-fit driver assistance suite, it achieved a full five-star rating. It also earned an adult occupant protection score of 93 per cent, making it one of the safest cars in the compact SUV class.
Honda vehicles generally offer a high level of reliability and owner satisfaction, and the CR-V finished in a solid 25th position out of 75 new cars in our Driver Power survey, while Honda itself finished 6th out of 29 manufacturers.
Warranty
The CR-V comes with the standard Honda warranty, which covers the vehicle for three years or 90,000 miles. This is better than the Volkswagen Tiguan, which offers cover up to 60,000 miles or three years, but the Land Rover Discovery Sport has an unlimited mileage three-year warranty, while the Hyundai Tucson offers five-years of cover and the Kia Sportage has a seven-year warranty.
