New 2024 Ford Puma facelift spied testing once again

Ford’s most popular model is due for a facelift early next year

The Ford Puma has been a huge success since its reinvention as a small SUV in 2019, so now is about the right time to start expecting a well-earned refresh. We’ve received these new images of what looks to be an ST-Line Ford Puma variant testing underneath the typical camouflage, probably hiding lots of small changes.

From the new images, we can instantly see new LED headlights fitted above a fresh front grille that will feature the Ford logo within its confines, rather than above it. Aside from this, other details will also be given a subtle freshen up, but the update does look to be less substantial than the ones recently applied to the Focus and the now discontinued Fiesta

The key elements that have helped make the Puma such a commercial success don’t appear to be affected by the facelift, though, with the car’s chunky road presence still fully intact, with short overhangs and wheel arch cladding.

The interior of the updated Puma could take inspiration from the Focus to help give it a more upmarket appeal. The current car comes with an eight-inch central screen and in higher-spec models a 12.3-inch driver’s display. The dash layout of this prototype looks different however, which could hint at the use of the Focus’ 13.2-inch touchscreen.

We should see the same selection of mild-hybrid 1.0-litre three-cylinder powertrains with figures ranging from 123bhp to 153bhp. With no Fiesta ST anymore, cheap thrills will hopefully be provided by the turbocharged 1.5-litre Puma ST with 197bhp.

The Puma currently costs from £24,940 which will most likely increase with this facelift to over £25,000. Looking to make more upmarket vehicles, Ford recently told Auto Express “Ford cannot continue to be a volume manufacturer making okay products.”

With the Ford Fiesta going out of production, a greater onus has been placed on the Puma - Ford’s most popular car in Britain. We’ll soon see it being offered as a full EV, sitting alongside this facelifted version of the internal-combustion engined (ICE) model.
