Fiat 500L Trekking available to order

The more rugged Fiat 500L Trekking is now on sale, starting from £17,095

The Fiat 500L Trekking is now available to order. Prices start at £17,095 for the 1.4-litre 94bhp petrol model, and rise to £19,590 for the 104bhp 1.6-litre MultiJet diesel.

The Trekking is the new range-topper for the 500L line-up – by contrast, the regular Fiat 500L prices range from £14,995 to £18.890 – and features more rugged bodystyling and extra kit as standard.

This includes a different suspension set-up that raises the body by 13mm, 17-inch alloys wrapped with mud and snow tyres and Fiat’s Traction+ system.

Although the Trekking is front-wheel drive, the Traction+ system is a more advanced version of stability control that uses the brakes to subtly slow a slipping wheel, helping to boost traction on slippy surfaces and effectively mimicking the action of a locking differential.

Activated by a button on the dash, the Traction+ works at speeds of up to 19mph, and Fiat claims it makes the Trekking easier to drive over rough and low-grip surfaces.

All 500L Trekking models also feature automatic emergency braking, called City Brake Control, as standard.

Trekking models are distinguished from the regular 500L by more rugged side skirts and bumpers, and a choice of two part-leather trims for the seats.

Otherwise, equipment includes a five-inch touchscreen radio with Bluetooth, six airbags, cruise control, climate control, rear parking sensors and auto lights.

Trekking buyers have the choice of seven body colours, plus the option of a contrasting black or white roof. Colours include Hip Hop Yellow shown in the pictures that’s exclusive to the model.

The engine line-up is the same as on the standard 500L. The 94bhp 1.4-litre petrol starts a £17,095, while the 104bhp 0.9-litre TwinAir costs from £18,590.

The 84bhp 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel comes with a choice of manual or Dualogic auto gearboxes, and starts at £18,590 and £19,490 respectively, while the 104bhp 1.6-litre diesel costs from £19,590.
