New DS 3 Crossback Louvre special edition unveiled
Special edition DS 3 Crossback Louvre gets pure-electric or petrol power with unique art-inspired design touches
DS has revealed a special edition version of its DS 3 Crossback compact crossover for 2022. Called the Louvre, the new model receives numerous styling tweaks and a unique art display mode for its 10.3-inch infotainment system, which becomes an interactive gallery with digitised works from the Louvre museum in Paris.
Outside, the DS 3 Crossback Louvre has been fitted with bespoke badges on the bonnet, tailgate and doors, with an Onyx Black DS logo at the front. Small pyramid symbols along the central spine of the grille have been added in tribute to the famous art museum, with the car’s 18-inch alloy wheels and mirror housings also receiving the same motif.
The DS 3 Crossback Louvre is offered in a choice of monochrome paint shades, with a black roof to visibly lower the car’s roofline. Inside, there’s DS’s trademark ‘watch strap’ black nappa leather upholstery, along with black leather trim on the dashboard and door panels. The steering wheel is also trimmed in leather, with Pearl stitching and embossed inserts. A pyramid symbol is also embossed on the dashboard, and there’s a laser engraving of the art museum on the gear selector.
The DS 3 Crossback Louvre is equipped with the same 10.3-inch infotainment touchscreen as the standard model, albeit with a neat art-inspired trick. DS has collaborated with the Louvre to add a gallery feature, where the user can select one of 182 art pieces from the museum to display on-screen. An accompanying podcast reveals details of each work to the driver on the move. The Mona Lisa, the Winged victory of Samothrace and the Egyptian statue of the Seated Scribe are among the pieces included.
The DS 3 Crossback Louvre is available with two petrol engines and one pure electric powertrain. The entry-level petrol model is fitted with DS’s PureTech 130 unit with 128bhp, which sits below a 153bhp option - both are paired with an automatic gearbox. The all-electric variant is the DS 3 Crossback E-Tense, which produces 134bhp and goes 206 miles on a single charge.
Prices for the DS 3 Crossback Louvre special edition begin from £34,420 for the 128bhp petrol option, rising to £35,920 for the 153bhp version of the car. The fully electric E-Tense version is available from £40,800. UK orders are open now.
