New Cupra Ateca Limited Edition: 100 to be built priced at £42k each

The limited-run Cupra Ateca receives a noisier exhaust plus a handful of performance and cosmetic upgrades

Cupra has launched a limited edition version of the Ateca performance SUV, which adds a range of cosmetic enhancements, additional technology and an uprated exhaust system. UK production is limited to just 100 units, with prices starting from £42,120.

Cosmetic upgrades over the standard model include a set of 20-inch copper alloy wheels, a new copper thread carbon fibre roof spoiler, carbon fibre mirror caps and unique badging. Inside, buyers get black trim for the infotainment system surround and dashboard, copper carbon fibre interior mouldings and fresh bucket seats, finished in Petrol Blue Alcantara.

Chassis-wise, the limited edition Cupra Ateca sports a set of larger Brembo brakes and an optional Akrapovic titanium exhaust. The latter upgrade will only be fitted to 20 of the 100 cars destined for the UK market. It carries a £3,000 premium over the SUV’s base-price and saves 7kg of weight over the Ateca’s standard system.

Buyers have the choice of two powertrain options – both of which are based around the Volkswagen Group’s turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine. The entry-level model has an output of 296bhp and 400Nm of torque, offering a 0–62mph time of 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 152mph.

Cupra’s £500 optional ABT Sportline performance pack boosts the limited edition Ateca’s power and torque figures to a respective to 345bhp and 440Nm, which Cupra says improves the Ateca’s in-gear acceleration and increases its top speed to 158mph. However, the SUV’s claimed 0–62mph time remains unchanged with the upgrade.
