Citroen Berlingo 2015: upgraded tech and improved space

Citroen announces an updated Berlingo for 2015 with new safety and connectivity technology plus more space

Citroen has confirmed its big-selling Berlingo has undergone a facelift and will appear at next month’s Geneva Motor Show. The 2015 Citroen Berlingo sees minor design changes, improved interior space and upgraded tech options across the van and passenger car ranges. At first glance, the Berlingo appears untouched, however a closer look reveals a revised front-end, with a new bumper, LED DRLs and grille. The family-friendly Multispace option will also offer two new, grey body colours, extra seating and an opening rear window. Improvements to the interior continue, with extra knee-room and 3,000-litres of luggage capacity with the seats folded down.

On sale in November, the 2015 Berlingo sees the arrival of a new seven-inch Touchdrive Interface. A Mirror Screen option allows the driver to duplicate their smartphone content and stay connected via the touchscreen. Following the facelift, the Berlingo also introduces an automatic Active City Brake to prevent collisions at low-speed, additional front parking sensors and a reversing camera.   Under the bonnet, the facelift brings a family of BlueHDI diesel engines, which cut CO2 emissions by four per cent and are compliant with Euro 6 standards. For the BlueHDi 120 S&S engine (with stop & start), the Citroen Berlingo gains a six-speed manual gearbox for the first time.

The changes made to the 2015 Berlingo will also transfer to the LCV variant. Still available in two different lengths, L1 (volume up to 3.7 m3) and L2 (volume up to 4.1 m3) , the Berlingo LCV can now be ordered with a modular ‘Extenso’ cabin – among other features, it allows three people to sit side-by-side and folding seats to maximise loading capacity.  The range is completed by the electric version of the new Berlingo, which has an official range of 105.6 miles and a top speed of 68.3mph.
