Hamilton wins at the Hungaroring

Lewis Hamilton takes his second victory of the season, having driven from pole to win the Hungarian Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton has won the Hungarian Grand Prix. He led from the start to take his second victory of the season, despite pressure from the Lotuses of Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean.

The start of the race was delayed, which forced Michael Schumacher to switch off his overheating engine on the grid. The drivers set off on a second formation lap, while Schumacher's car was pushed back into the pits. The extra formation tour reduced race distance from 70 to 69 laps.

When the race finally got going, Hamilton made a strong start and was into turn one ahead of Grosjean, who starting a Grand Prix on the first row of the grid for the first time.

Jenson Button managed to squeeze past Sebastian Vettel through the opening corners, while Red Bull teammate Mark Webber was up from 11th on the grid to seventh.

Meanwhile, Pastor Maldonado was busy driving into the side of Paul di Resta's Force India. He managed to make the pass stick, but the incident was investigated by the stewards and the Williams driver was handed a drive-through penalty.

Grosjean then became under more and more pressure from reigning world champion, Sebastian Vettel, who was determined to finish on the podium. He set a series of fastest laps, but failed to make it past the Frenchman.

Hamilton finished the race just a second ahead of Kimi Raikkonen, while Romain Grosjean finished third.

Vettel finished fourth, ahead of Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button, while Bruno Senna crossed the line in seventh for Williams. Mark Webber, Felipe Massa and Nico Rosberg took the last of the points.

This result means that Fernando Alonso has extended his lead in the driver's championship to 164 points, ahead of Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel with 124 and 122 respectively. In the constructors' championship, Red Bull has 246 points, to McLaren's 193.
