Evanta Barchetta gets Goodwood Revival debut
Evanta’s new Barchetta is set to cost from £125,000, with production limited to just 148 models
Evanta Motor Company has revealed its new Barchetta at the Goodwood Revival.
Only 148 will be built, each one hand-crafted using traditional coach building methods, with all production taking place in Britain. Two different versions are set to go on sale, one using a composite kevlar body on a tubular frame, and the alternative featuring an aluminium body.
Either way, power comes from a 6.2-litre V8 engine that’s capable of generating 450bhp. No performance figures have been revealed yet, but Evanta is claiming “exceptional agility.” This will be paired to either a manual or automatic transmission, and both left and right-hand drive setups will be available, too.
It's our first proper look at the production two-seat Barchetta, the retro-inspired roadster having only appeared in renderings before now. According to Evanta, its “inspired by the design language of 1950s motorsport”, including “sleek, sweeping curves and low profile” that hints at Anglo-Italian parentage.
Order books open this weekend, and prices are set to start from around £125,000 for the kevlar composite variant – of which 99 will be built – rising to approximately £165,000 for the 49 aluminium Barchettas.
Following the Evanta Barchetta’s release, the bespoke British sportscar designer will launch a GT concept car in spring 2015.
