Lister Jaguar 'Knobbly' road-legal classic racer revealed

New 60th Anniversary Lister Jaguar ‘Knobbly’ announced, priced from £249,000 plus tax

Following the news last year that Lister Motor Company would be making a return, the firm has announced full specification for the revived Lister Jaguar ‘knobbly’ race car. Two variants of the iconic model will be produced, one for dedicated track use and another that will be road legal.

Nicknamed ‘knobbly’ due to its sculpted and muscular bodywork, Lister has announced initial pricing of £259,000 and £249,000 – plus tax – for the road and track version respectively. The original 1950s models have been known to fetch as much as £1.2 million at auction.

Mechanically, the new Lister Jaguars will be fitted with the same Jaguar D-Type engine used in the original models. In race spec, the 3.8-litre engine develops 330bhp and is able to hit a top speed of 181mph. Traditional hand-built construction will remain at the core of the new Lister Jaguars, with each model assembled to suit the specific requirements of every customer.

The revived model will come with an all-new, factory approved, entry into FIA/HTP Appendix K historic racing, without the risk of buying non-factory recognised, replica cars. Initial production will be extremely limited, with 50 per cent of this year's production run already sold. The first models will leave the Cambridgeshire factory in April.
