Cars coming soon

Our comprehensive guide to the new cars arriving in showrooms over the next 12 months

May 2013

Jaguar F-Type

The hotly anticipated Jaguar F-Type arrives in the spring, with prices starting at £58,500. It’ll get a standard eight-speed automatic gearbox and three snarling engine choices ranging from the entry level 335bhp V6 through to the flagship 488bhp V8 S.

Peugeot 208 XY

Until now, the range topping five-door Peugeot 208 was the 208 Feline. However, later this year it’ll be replaced by the XY, and gets unique alloy wheels, chrome trim and a panoramic sunroof. The Feline will remain the flagship three-door car.

Peugeot 208 GTI

Perhaps a more exciting prospect is the Peugeot 208 GTI. With the aim of reigniting the spirit of the legendary 205 GTI of the eighties, the 208 hot-hatch can sprint to 62mph in less than seven seconds.

Chevrolet Trax

The Trax is Chevrolet’s version of the Vauxhall Mokka. The compact crossovers will share their GM underpinnings and rival cars like the established Nissan Juke and MINI Paceman. Deliveries are due to start in May.

BMW Z4

The revised BMW Z4 is due later this year, with the biggest change coming in the shape of a brand-new entry-level sDrive18i model. It’s powered by a 154bhp 2.0-litre engine and will get to 62mph in 7.9 seconds.

Dacia Sandero Stepway

Britain’s cheapest car, the Dacia Sandero will be joined by its more rugged brother, the Sandero Stepway later this year. It gets raised suspension and special cladding but retains the base car’s front-wheel drive platform and engine options.

BMW 3 Series GT

The established and capable BMW 3 Series gets a more practical sibling this year, with the introduction of the all-new 3 Series GT. It versatile hatch opening reveals a huge 520-litre boot – 25 litres bigger than the existing Touring.

Porsche Cayman

The stunning Porsche Boxster is already an impressive sports car, add in a fixed roof and the driving experience is lifted to another level. Our first drive of the all-new Cayman confirmed the baby Porsche as one of the performance bargains of 2013.

VW Beetle Cabriolet

The Volkswagen Beetle Cabriolet has grown up with its latest incarnation. It offers a great blend of style, economy and driver enjoyment and has a superb range of tried and test VW engines. The only sticking point will be its high list price.
