FCA launches Reloaded by Creators heritage restoration service

Classic Fiats, Lancias and Alfa Romeos to be sourced, completely restored to factory standard, then sold to collectors

Fiat Chrysler is the latest manufacturer to dip into its heritage by announcing an intensive, curated restoration programme for some of its brands’ most iconic vehicles, the first five of which are now on sale and on show at the Retromobile classic car exposition in Paris.

Called ‘Reloaded by Creators’, the new sales service is aimed at collectors of classic Fiat, Lancia, Alfa Romeo and Abarth models, though it’s slightly different to some of the reborn heritage car programmes run by the likes of Aston Martin and Jaguar Land Rover Classic.

While those British brands have caught the headlines recently by creating brand new versions of historic models using continued serial numbers, FCA intends for Reloaded by Creators to be a restoration programme only.

The department will sell a limited number of classic cars at a time, carefully selecting and purchasing each model before restoring them completely to original, factory fresh specification.

The restored vehicles will be guaranteed with a certificate of authenticity, and the funds raised from sales will be used to finance the sourcing of new models for FCA’s historic collection.

The five cars on display at Retromobile include two Alfa Romeos – a 1991 Spider and a 1989 SV. Two restored Lancias are present too in the form of a 1973 Fulvia Coupe Montecarlo and a 1959 Appia Coupe. A Pininfarina made 1981 Fiat 124 Sport Spider ‘Spidereuropa’ forms the final piece of this first Reloaded by Creators collection.

Now read about the top ten Lancias of all time, as ranked by Auto Express.
